Women In Music: Cali Luv

Cali Luv is a Panamanian/African-American singer-songwriter who was raised in California. At the age of 11, she had a start in music by joining a gospel group in her home state of California which we first realized her passion for music. At the age of 18 years old Cali decided to take a leap of faith and move to New York to pursue her music. She shortly started stripping after moving to New York while supporting her starting music career. Shortly after moving she was put in a rap group orchestrated by Heather Hunter and Treach. She shortly left the group which she then built industry relationships with rapper Huddy 6 and Camron. Camron then helped Cali find her way to start writing music and naming her “Cali”.
In 2009 focused on being a solo singer which she sang on Vado’s #1 single on the mix-tape Boss of All Bosses with DJ Drama Gangsta Grillz. One of her biggest music influences growing up was Lauryn Hill which made her start writing poetry.
All while Cali focused on her solo career she continued to strip to support her music dreams. After 10 years of dancing, Cali decided to make a concise decision to leave the lifestyle and go after her dream a 100 percent. After being a dancer for so long the money became addictive and she started lose focus on the dream. She has a whole new outlook on her music and new focus. She plans to put everything she has gone through in her music which she is currently writing her EP to release this year. She released her single this year “Had It All”.
